Learning is often messy.
EXPERIENCES
I keep coming back to that word when people ask me to share good ideas for gifted kids.
They need what we all need- meaningful and engaging experiences.
There are some really great websites and ideas out there for folks who share my philosopy.
Your passion is what motivates you and gets you excited about what you are learning.

CREATIVITY
Some interesting ideas about creativity:

“Be regular and orderly in your life so that you may be violent and original in your work.”
– Gustave Flaubert, author
How creativity works:

"The brain is just an endless knot of connections. And a creative thought is simply ... a network that's connecting itself in a new way. Sometimes it's triggered by a misreading of an old novel. Sometimes it's triggered by a random thought walking down the street, or bumping into someone in the bathroom of the studio. There are all sorts of ways seemingly old ideas can get reassembled in a new way."
Running and Musing:
Nothing gets my creativity flowing like going on a run. I love how the light changes as the afternoon rolls into dusk. The clouds move and shadows change on the mountains. Light dapples through trees and as the trail winds, I wonder what is around the next corner or over the next hill.
The experience of nature and solitude refreshes me and gives me time to reflect on my day. My mind will wander and I make a connection between something I have read or seen and what is going on in my classroom. I have a flash of brilliance or an epiphany and hope its still there at the end of my run. I like to tell my friends, "I had a flash of brilliance, and 'poof' it was gone." However, I theorize the endorphins from running act like some sort of insight 'glue'.
